Sorry we were gone so long,
We have been very busy with all the end of the year stuff. Here is a quick note about each day:
N- We ate Nutter-Butter cookies, we were nice and neat and worked with Numbers.
M-We ate Muffins that we baked ourselves. Mmmmmmmm good. We also made some marvelous macaroni art. It was magnificent!!!
L- We ate lemon icees. They were luscious. We read The Extraordinary Egg by Leo Lionni, we listened carefully and laughed.
K- We ate Krispy Kreme doughnuts they were kind to our taste buds. We were kind and we read Chrysanthemum by Keven Henkes.
J- We had Jello for snack, julicious (a made up word). We made jokes and read poems by Jack Prelutsky. He writes just right poems.
I- We ate Ice Cream, it was ice cold. We wore our shirts and some wore their pants inside out. We made pictures with ink stamps. That was inky.
H- We ate Hershey's Hugs, what a happy treat. We wore hats, some were funny, and we had happy faces.
G- We ate grapes and Goldfish. That was a great combination. Gulicious (we made that up). We wore green or Gators and had a good time.
F- We ate fruit after our fabulous field trip to the Santa Fe planetarium and zoo. Fun, Fun, Fun! All on Friday.
E- We had excellent Entenmann's cookies. Extra scrumptious. We had to exercise after all the sweets.
D- Doritos were our treat. They were delightful. We learned to doodle and did a dance. What a darling day.
C- We finally had some healthy carrots and celery they were cool and crisp. We cleaned our room and took home most of our stuff. Mrs. Harner had us clap out patterns. It was creative. We were curious as to how Eric Carle's Grouchy Lady Bug would end. It was a clever ending.
B- We ate beautiful bananas. We also had our water day IN THE RAIN. Nobody cared because we were getting wet anyway. We blew bubbles and wore blue. Some of us almost turned blue because we got cold when we were wet.
Tomorrow is the last day, A day. We are to have apples and our awesome autograph day. We are so happy you have kept in touch and maybe we will hear from you again next school year.

Where are YOU?????????

Hello My Alphabet Countdown Friends,
Where are you? I have not seen a post from you in a long time. I have continued to travel to places as if you were still doing the backwards alphabet. I hope I hear from you soon.
From the great state of Oregon I traveled east to North Dakota. What a different state. There are so many habitats I have never seen before. Don't you love the prairie dog? Here are some nice pictures of North Dakota. Well I better get going to catch up to E day.
From North Dakota I went east to the state that looks like a mitten. so you know which state that is? It's Michigan! I think someone in your class knows a lot about Michigan. There are two parts called peninsulas. One is the Upper Peninsula and the other is the Lower Peninsula. Do you know what a peninsula is? Florida is a peninsula. There are a lot of lakes in Michigan and they are really mammoth. They are called the Great Lakes. The habitats in Michigan are mostly field and forest mammals, like white-tailed deer and chipmunks. They also have the famous red robin bird as their state bird. Michigan is a marvelous state.
I'm headed to the southern state of Louisiana. Louisiana is in the far south of the United States. Many of the habitats are a lot like Florida. Here are some photos of a swamp. There are great birds, alligators and turtles in Louisiana. A lovely place to visit.
I'm going a little north to Kansas. Did you see that buffalo? Kansas is almost in the middle of the United States. They state of Kansas is famous for it's prairies. I hope you enjoy these pictures. I saw so many different animals. You can see for miles across the prairies. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz was from Kansas. I better get going or I won't catch up with you.
I thought I would travel to New Jersey, since there isn't a state that begins with 'J'. New Jersey has a variety of habitats, they have the beautiful Jersey shore and then the forests and fields in the middle of the state. The shore is different from Florida because it gets very cold in the winter. A beautiful sight was this snowy white owl. You can sure tell why it is called a snowy white.
On to Idaho. Idaho has beautiful mountains and some big animals like the elk. Elk look a lot like Santa's reindeer. Look at all that snow. Another animal that has a habitat in the huge mountains of Idaho is the mountain goat. They are really good at standing on the sides of the mountain. One of the largest birds is the osprey and they are native to Idaho. Aren't they big? I would love to stay here longer but must get to my next state.
Hawaii is the only state that begins with 'H'. ThisHawaii is very different than any other state. First of all it is made up of eight main islands and many islets. Hawaii is very tropical and the habitats are quite different than any other in the United States. The Humback whale is the state animal and lives in the vast habitat of the Pacific Ocean. I never did see one in the ocean. Hawaii has many colorful birds. I could stay here for a long time but I need to keep going.
Now I'm back on the mainland in the state just north of you, Georgia. Georgia is another state that has both mountains and coastal ocean habitats. While Cumberland Island off the coast of Georgia is famous for its wild horses, there are also many marine habitats. Cumberland Island is a very unique place to visit. I hope you get to visit it one day since it is not far from Florida.

Hola Rambunctious, Quick, Outstanding Friends

Hola Rambunctious, Quick, Outstanding Friends,
Well I have been very busy traveling the backwards alphabet. You are keeping me very busy. While I was in Rhode Island I found that is the smallest state in the United States. Here is a link with all the states listed by their size. Where do you think Florida falls in the list? Rhode Island is famous for its state bird the Rhode Island Hen.
Not far from Rhode Island is the quaint city of Quincy, Massachusetts. I was so lucky to find this city since there are not many places that begin with 'Q'. Quincy is where John Adams was born. Do you know who he was? He was our second president. Who was our first? John Adams named a son John Quincy Adams and he became our sixth president. That's keeping it in the family. Quincy is really small but I found a beautiful salt marsh trail, take a look. Do you know why the marsh is salty? I"m really close to Boston, but need to get moving if I'm going to make my next destination.
Just a ways west of Massachusetts is the plush state of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is where Punxsutawney Phil lives. Do you remember who he is and why he is famous? Pennsylvania has a very famous historical city that begins with a 'P' but sound likes an 'F'. Do you know what it is? It is Philadelphia! Philadelphia is very famous for some very important history for the USA. Here is a picture of the Liberty Bell. Read about how it BROKE! I'm headed to the far away state of Oregon because I think the habitats are a bit different there.
Wow, Oregon is outstandingly original. What different state than I have been in on the East coast. There is a famous trail that ends in Oregon called the Oregon Trail. What an optimal place for opportunities to see habitats. The Oregon Trail is so popular in our history that there was a game made for computers called the Oregon Trail. You had to plan a trip and all the things you would need as if you were taking the trail long ago. I don't know if it is still available but it used to be fun. I can't wait to hear from you.

Quiet, peculiar,ordinary kids

Hola Betsy,
Hola means hello in Spanish. We have had some very busy days. On Q day we tried to be quiet all day. It didn't work that much =:) We ate Quaker granola bars, they were "quadlicious". We made that word up it means delicious. We played 20 Questions on the next day when we had more time. 20 Questions was "purrific" that means awesome. Have you ever played 20 Questions?
Thursday was 'P' day. We we wore our pajamas to school. Can you believe it! I guess we forgot to put on our real clothes. We were perfectly comfy. Some of them were pink and purple and had princesses on them. (Girls only). We ate popcorn, lots and lots of pre-popped popcorn. It was "prelicious" that means delicious. We shared pictures of our pets and one student even brought her pet mouse in a ball. She was perky!
Today is 'O' day. We ate juicy orange oranges. They were "olicious". Guess what that means? We wore lots and lots of orange. That is easy for us because the Gators are orange. We also played outside. We celebrated a summer birthday.
We have to go but hope to hear from you soon. Happy traveling.

Hello Tremendously, Special, Rascals in Mrs. Harner's Class,
What fun you must be having each day. I think the strawberries must have been delicious. How funny that the Townhouse Crackers were Toppers. What kind of Ritz Bits did you have? I like the peanut butter the best. What artists you are! I have never written on a sidewalk before. Maybe I should try it.
Well here is where I have been lately. First I went to Tennessee. What fun to be in such a beautiful state. I know you are Gator fans, but Tennessee is home to many wild animals. No deserts, but plenty of forests and rivers. Check out this wetlands video. I'll bet they are different from the wetlands in Florida? There sure is some beautiful mountain scenery and some pretty spring flowers and blossoms. The mountains are huge. I hope you can all visit this area someday.
Now on to nearby South Carolina. South Carolina has a varied habitat landscape. There are mountains in the west and beaches in the east. Since I just shared the mountains of Tennessee, I thought I would focus on the coastal areas of South Carolina. I'm sure some of it is similar to Florida coastal areas.
Wow, I'm on my way up to Rhode Island. I'll let you know what I find.

We are so grateful for all the wonderful sites you link us to. We haven't had time to see everything we want but we sure are trying. That was funny about painting horses in Vermont. Utah is such a beautiful state. We just started talking about deserts this week. Thanks for the info.
To catch you up, on 'T' day we wore t-shirts and Mrs. Harner wore her famous Timmy Tebow shirt. We ate Townhouse Topper crackers with nothing on top but they were tasty. We tip-toed around the classroom. It was terrific. We wore tennis shoes and that was a good thing because we had PE too.
On 'S' day we wore sneakers and some wore Skeechers, stripes and ate scrumptious juicy strawberries. They were super sweet. We read Dr. Seuss and wrote in complete sentences. At recess we were able to write on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. How beautiful.
Today is 'R' day and we wore lots of RED. We read a book. We ate Ritz Bits crackers. Some of us raced around at recess PE2. Dr. Dovell came to talk to us about good ways to learn. We hope to remember them each day. Tomorrow is 'Q' day.
While you were in Vermont did you visit Maine? One of our classmates was born in Maine.

I'm glad you enjoyed my websites. I have such fun looking and traveling around and now it is much more fun because I have to look for places that begin with the backwards alphabet. By the way, I fixed that Texas link. Sorry about that. I'm glad you enjoyed your healthy vegetables. They are so good for you.
I thought I would try a visit to the great northern state of Vermont. Vermont is very different from Florida. They have long cold winters with plenty of snow. There is a lot of wildlife and habitats in Vermont.  I liked this website because it has a section on crazy laws about animals in Vermont.  Could you imagine painting a horse?  I think they painted horses in the movie the Wizard of Oz.   good thing they weren't in Vermont.

Now I'm visiting the great state of Utah.  It took me a long time to travel here.  This map is so cool because you can select areas on the map and it will take you to more information.  I know you are studying about habitats and I think it is very interesting about the Great Salt Desert.  Do you know about deserts?  Utah has many different animal habitats.  They have mountains and deserts and the Great Salt Lake!  You check it out on the travel map above.  Well, I need to get on my way.  I can't wait to hear about 'T', "S' and 'R'.  Happy alphabet to you.
